Extreme poverty at all ages

Dealing with poverty in early childhood

In a bid to cater for the chidren’s education and well-being, while relying on occasional donations, we started the Kibera Pride Daycare Center as one of the funds generating activity. It's one of our main concernes to provide basic needs to children at this young age.

Our vision

To express our overall ambition in a very simple way : what we want is a community where all children feel loved, respected and encouraged to develop to their fullest potential.

So, there’s no reason we should live children grow up in extreme poverty from their early childhood. It’s well known that children born in extremely poor families could risk to develop backwardness. Then, this backwardness could have a huge impact on children’s academic success and furthermore on their professional life.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide high quality childcare in a safe, loving and inclusive environment that builds a foundation for a life-long learning.

With our others projects, we first provide basic needs and education access. But then, our primary emphasis is to keep children happy and engaged in activities that interest them and to maintain a caring personable staff. We are able to implement this daily support thank to volunteer who are here to assist children in their development.

Who are the volunteers ?

As we explained it the About Us and the Our History tab, Kibera Pride Initiative has been founded by Irene Kasandi, who is present everyday at Kibera Pride’s center. With 8 others peoples, she is fully committed to this organisation. They are all here to bring the daily support to the children.

Moreover, some people choose to become volunteer and spend their free time helping children in needs at the center. As much as the people who lives there the whole year, there are not only useful, but essential to ensure our organization’s service.

Please, help us to keep implementing those programs !

So far, as we said, we’ve been relying on volunteers and donations which could sometimes makes our capacity to provide support to the children less efficient, as it could have either some delays or off-peak period within donations.

It is in regards to this that your contribution to support the program will be of great benefit. So please, make a donation !

Kibera Pride Initiative was founded with an aim to promote access to education and to provide basic needs to vulnerable children in the Kibera Slum Area. The organization was registered on February 26th, 2014 under the NGO coordination board of Kenya.
